2017 Summer Program

Port of Houston

Hurricanes and cloudbursts are escalating environmental pressures on the growing populations of the Gulf Coast cities, while the Port of Houston remains their economic fulcrum. The second largest gateway of international trade in the US, its operations define regional economic trends, transform coastal environments, and affect local land uses and community life.  We will set out to understand the port’s material footprint on the region and catalyze a more intelligent intertwining of policy, economy, ecology and culture through the agency of design.
