As cities located along coastal or inland waterways grapple with increased flooding, many are finding that parks can offer flood mitigation in addition to needed communal and recreational space.   CBS morning news aired a story that features Hunters Point South, designed collaboratively by SWA / Balsley and Weiss Manfredi  as an example.  Wetlands have long served as nature’s buffer for storm surge and filter for water quality, and today’s urban parks are increasingly looking to landscape to provide multiple benefits.
